Victor Zuue

Victor W. Zue (* in China ) is a Sino -American computer scientist who pioneered speech recognition and human-computer speech communication.

Zue studied at the University of Florida and received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1976 . He is Delta Electronics Professor of Electrical Engineering at MIT, where he was director of the Laboratory for Computer Science (LCS) from 2001 to 2003 and of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) from 2007 to 2011 . From 1989 to 2001 he headed the Spoken Language Systems Group at LCS.

In 1990 he became a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America . From 1996 to 1998 he headed the Information Science and Technology (ISAT) Study Group at DARPA . In 1999 he received the Sustained Excellence Award from DARPA, and in 2004 he became a member of the National Academy of Engineering . In 2015 he was elected a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science .

Since 2008 he has also chaired a strategy group at MIT aimed at strengthening ties with China.
