The Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground , often abbreviated to VCA Ground , is a cricket stadium in Nagpur , India . Since 2008, it has been replaced by the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium for international matches in the city .
Capacity & Infrastructure
The stadium can accommodate 40,000 visitors. The two wicket ends are called Jaika End and Church End .
International cricket
The first test match at this stadium took place in October 1969 between India and New Zealand . Since then it has been the venue for numerous international meetings. The first One-Day International was held here in January 1985 between India and England . At the Cricket World Cup 1987 and the Cricket World Cup 1996 , a preliminary round match was played in the stadium. At the 5th ODI of the New Zealand Tour in the 1995/96 season , a wall broke in on a grandstand. As a result, nine people died.
National cricket
Until 2009, the stadium was the home of Vidarbha .
