from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A lot of noise in Chiozza (pronounced "Kiotza", also known under the titles Krach in Chiozza , Streit in Chiozza or Liebeshändel in Chiozza ) is a comedy in 3 acts that Carlo Goldoni wrote in 1761 under the title Le baruffe chiozzotte in Venetian dialect and the First performed in 1762 at the Teatro San Luca in Venice . The place Chiozza corresponds to today's Chioggia in the south of the lagoon of Venice . In Chiozza, a place that is largely determined by fishing, live "40,000 souls", of which almost 30,000 are women. The play revolves around some chio villi who quarrel and are lovesick, which degenerates into a guerrilla war.

action

The first act describes how the women (Pasqua, Lucietta; Libera, Orsetta, Checca) are seated in front of their two houses and talk about their soon-to-be-returning husbands or future husbands who are still fishing. Toffolo talks to the women and is too busy with Lucietta, who is engaged to Titta Nane, which causes a stir. He's actually interested in Checca. The women quarrel, abuse Toffolo and send him away. When the men arrive again, the women try to remain silent at first, which is difficult for them to do. Therefore, a fight begins between Toffolo and Beppo, Titta Nane and Paron Toni. Paron Vicenzo and his troops intervene and stop the fight.

The other two acts serve to resolve the dispute that has arisen and flared up again and again. In Act 2, Toffolo accuses the people he had argued with by going to the adjunct. The adjunct interrogates everyone and tries (both in Acts 2 and 3) to reconcile them again by marrying everyone together, which runs into many obstacles! In the end, after a series of nervous breakdowns, the adjunct is able to bring everyone back to their senses and to settle the problems of the couples, marries them and brings peace back to the fishing village of Chiozza.
