Vigased pruudid (German for "The defaced brides") is the title of an Estonian silent film from 1929.

The comedy was directed by Johannes Loop and Konstantin Märska . In the same year, both produced the adventure film Jüri Rumm . These are the only two feature films by the Estonian film pioneer Konstantin Märska that have been preserved.
The production company for Vigased pruudid was Märska company Konstantin Märska Filmiproduktsioon . The funny and turbulent plot is based on a novella by the well-known Estonian writer Eduard Vilde .
The film premiered on September 26, 1929. The critics especially praised the film for its successful portrayal of (village) life in Estonia.
The material was filmed again by Estonian television in 1989 .

Mart Pajuvits is a widowed family man and farmer in the village of Lipuvere. He wants to bring his two daughters Miina and Leena to the right husbands, i. H. to marry as richly as possible. The two young women, however , are not very enthusiastic about the two suitors from South Estonia, Enn and Jaak from the Mulgimaa region , who were chosen by their father.
The daughters therefore devise clever pranks to thwart the plans of their stubborn father. Together with their two loved ones from the village, Joosep and Juhan, they put on a big theater to scare off the admirers. Miina begins to limp and Leena loses her hearing. Joosep and Juhan frighten those willing to marry with ghost stories and then appear as deceased ancestors themselves.
