The motorized passenger ship Viking was an excursion and butter ship operated by the Flensburger Förde-Reederei GmbH. The ship was put into service in 1968 and was in service until January 1999, the last few years in charter with Viking Reederei GmbH. The last scheduled departure was on January 3, 1999 at 4.30 p.m. from Gråsten in Denmark to Glücksburg and back. The ship was then transferred to Flensburg and handed over to the new shipowner some time later. From then on it was used as Christiane II for the Oderhaff Seetouristik Reederei Peters . After some time the ship was sold to Zegluga Pomorska, renamed Renata I , the ship was used on the Swinoujscie - Ahlbeck line. After Poland joined the EU, butter trips were also banned here. The ship then went to Croatia, was later renamed Viking again and is still in service.
A successor ship with the same name as an excursion ship, based on the old Viking from 1968, sailed from the Flensburg harbor until 2015. After this was no longer roadworthy, it was scrapped and replaced by a new ship, which was again given the name Viking.
