Game principle and game mechanics

The game Viking Rage puts the player in the position of a Viking who has to defend his village or a similar fortification from the approaching waves of enemies. To do this, he has to use various weapons such as a bow or throwing axes. By defeating opponents, the anger of the player is charged, which can be used to switch to rage mode ( Eng . "Anger mode").

Scope of play

The game offers 7 different game worlds, 3 mini-games and a sandbox mode in which the player can specify which opponents he would like to fight. In addition, the bestiary is available to the player, a place where he can view all opponents and game elements in detail.

development

Development of the game began on June 3, 2016 as part of an internal virtual reality game jam at the SAE Institute in Cologne. The students quickly recognized the potential of their prototype and decided to continue developing the game after the Game Jam. In December 2016, an alpha version of the game was presented to the publisher Headup Games. It was then decided that the game should be published together. On this occasion, the students founded the company N-Gon Entertainment in February 2017 with a focus on continuing to develop virtual reality software even after the release of Viking Rage .
