Karl Herrle

Karl Herrle (* December 24, 1828 ; † after 1878 ) was a German railway painter .

His father was a magistrate administrator. Herrle was entered in the register of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich on November 11, 1848 and received his registration on July 13, 1849.

Together with his brother, the internship engineer Jakob Herrle, Karl Herrle was commissioned by the Bavarian Railway Construction Commission to graphically document the progress of the construction work on all Bavarian state railway lines and the completed construction objects. This is how many watercolors were created, some of which are in the collections of the DB Museum in Nuremberg .

Some of his watercolors were presented to Queen Marie of Bavaria on December 31, 1855 in the form of an album of the Bavarian Railways .

From 1856 to 1866 he worked as a painter in Würzburg . In 1865 he visited Munich. From 1870 to 1872 he was employed at the city theater in Riga as a decorative painter, also painted vedutas of this city.
