Viktor Einar Gyökeres (born June 4, 1998 ) is a Swedish football player of Hungarian descent who plays on loan at FC St. Pauli . He is under contract with Brighton & Hove Albion . He is also a national player for Sweden .
Career
societies
Gyökeres moved from IFK Aspudden-Tellus to IF Brommapojkarna in 2013 and initially played in the club's U17 team. He went through the youth teams and made his first-team debut two years later. He scored his first goals for the club on August 20, 2015 in a 3-0 victory in the Svenska Cupen against IF Sylvia . The following year Gyökeres scored seven goals in Division 1 2016 , which he contributed to Brommapojkarna's promotion to the Superettan . In the following season 2017 he was able to score 13 goals in 29 games in the Superettan and thus helped the club to move up to the Fotbollsallsvenskan .
He moved to Brighton & Hove Albion on January 1, 2018, and began training with the club's U-23 team. He made his first-team debut for Brighton on August 28, 2018 in a 1-0 loss in the League Cup to Southampton FC . He didn't play a game in the Premier League that season. In July 2019 he moved to the German second division club FC St. Pauli for the 2019/20 season. He made his debut as a substitute in a 1-1 draw in the away game at Arminia Bielefeld . Gyökeres scored his first goal for St. Pauli on September 29 when he scored the second goal of a 2-0 home win against SV Sandhausen .
National team
He competed with Sweden in the 2017 European Under-19 Championship , scored three goals and was voted into the tournament's best team.
On January 8, 2019, Gyökeres made his debut for Sweden's senior team in a 1-0 loss to Finland . Just three days later, Gyökeres scored his first goal for Sweden in a 2-2 draw with Iceland .
