Viktor Kleiner (politician)

Viktor Kleiner (born July 15, 1902 in Vienna ; † January 18, 1987 in Neulengbach ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and chamber director. From 1962 to 1970 he was a member of the National Council .

After five classes of elementary school, Kleiner attended three classes of the community school and then learned the trade of a belt maker. He began studying in 1922 and received his doctorate in 1934. Professionally he worked as a belt maker until 1920, after which he joined the association of young workers in 1920, where he was employed as a secretary. In 1922 he became the state secretariat of the Social Democratic Party, and in 1927 he entered the service of the Vienna City Council. After the National Socialists came to power, Kleiner was dismissed in 1938 and subsequently worked as a managing director in the private sector. After the Second World War, in 1946 he became an employee of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Upper Austria. He worked as a secretary and was promoted to chamber office director.

From 1949 to 1962, Kleiner was active as a local councilor in Linz and was a member of the state party representation of the SPÖ Upper Austria. He represented the SPÖ from December 14, 1962 to March 31, 1970 in the National Council.
