Viktor Vanberg

Viktor Vanberg (born August 12, 1943 in Aachen ) is professor emeritus at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , where he held the chair for economic policy from 1995 to 2009. From 2001 to 2010 he headed the Walter Eucken Institute in Freiburg. He is a member of the board of the Walter Eucken Institute.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1963 at the Kaiser-Karls-Gymnasium in Aachen, Vanberg studied sociology in Aachen and Münster , and graduated in 1968 with a diploma in sociology. In 1974 he received his doctorate from the Technical University of Berlin. phil. PhD . In 1981 he completed his habilitation at the University of Mannheim . With a Heisenberg grant from the German Research Foundation, he moved to the Center for Study of Public Choice, George Mason University, Fairfax, Va., USA in 1983. Since 1985 he has been a full professor of economics and has been the institute's editorial director. In 1995 he was offered a professorship in economic policy at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg. He taught there until 2009. At the same time, from 2001 to 2010 he was head of the Walter Eucken Institute, which is affiliated with the university.

In 2010 Vanberg was awarded the Hayek Medal .
