Viktor von Blumenthal

Viktor von Blumenthal (born February 15, 1940 in Gießen / Lahn ) is a German educationalist .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1959, the son of Albrecht von Blumenthal and Erika Schippel studied German and Ancient Languages ​​at the Philipps University of Marburg , where he passed the state examination in Latin and German in 1967. He spent the academic year 1963/64 at the University of Rome .

After the state examination, he continued his studies in educational science in Marburg , which he completed in 1980 with a dissertation on “The reform of the upper secondary level in Italy. On the legitimation problem of educational policy decisions ”concluded. From 1968 until his retirement in 2005 he was employed in the academic mid-level faculty at the Research Center for Comparative Education at the Philipps University of Marburg . The focus of his work was on educational policy in Italy, Switzerland and the Federal Republic of Germany , as well as on intercultural education .

He was politically active within the Marburg FDP from 1972 to 1982; from 1974 to 1981 he was chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the Marburg city council, after which he was an honorary member of the magistrate of Marburg for one year.

After his retirement, he helped found the Montessori School in Marburg until 2010 , which started work in the 2008/2009 school year. Since 2015 he has been helping refugees get started with the German language.
