Viktoras Vaičiūnas

Viktoras Vaičiūnas (born October 3, 1896 in Piliakalniai , Ukmergė County (now Jonava Rajongemeinde ); † September 3, 1945 in Kaunas ) was a Lithuanian psychiatrist and neuropathologist . he was a professor at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas.

Life

In 1922 he completed a medical degree at the war medicine department in Petrograd . From 1922 to 1925 he served as a military doctor in Lithuania .

From 1925 he worked as an assistant at the mental hospital of the Vytautas Magnus University. From 1939 to 1945 he was head of the chair there, from 1945 professor.

He was married; his daughter Judita Vaičiūnaitė (1937-2001) was a poet. His brother was the playwright Petras Vaičiūnas .
