Statue of Saint Victoria

Victoria of Córdoba († 313 in Córdoba ) is venerated as a saint and martyr . According to tradition, Victoria was the sister of Acisclus , who, like her in the persecution of Christians, probably suffered martyrdom in Córdoba in 313.

Vita

After their capture, Victoria and Acisclus were tortured. Victoria was hit by arrows and Acisclus was beheaded. The two saints are highly venerated in Spain and the south of France. The house where she was born in Cordoba has been converted into a church. They are the patron saints of the city of Cordoba.

Adoration

Her memorial day in the liturgy is November 17th .

The saint is invoked for good weather for the harvest. Her main church is the Iglesia de Santa Victoria in Córdoba, which is said to have been her home. Double patronage with St. Acisclus are common. Saint Victoria is often depicted in pictures with arrows in hand and a wreath of roses on her head (an attribute of virginity).
