Patrick Durkin
Patrick Durkin (born June 9, 1936 in Middlesbrough , † 2009 in London ) was a British actor and reciter .
Durkin stood out at school for his acting talent - he was able to recite Julius Caesar speeches at the age of 14 - and was encouraged by his father, who sent him to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art . There were also Peter O'Toole and Richard Harris in his class . His special talent remained the recitation of classical authors, especially Horace . In film and television he played numerous smaller roles since 1958, including several films in the Carry-on ... series , many television series and the hit film Raiders of the Lost Ark . He has been on stage with entertainment programs since the 1990s, most recently in Benidorm . Due to an illness, he returned to London, where he had lived for many years, shortly before his death.
