Vilenas Vadapalas

Vilenas Vadapalas (* 1954 ) is a Lithuanian international lawyer and former administrative lawyer as well as a European Court of Justice judge.

Life

Vadapalas graduated from Vilnius University with a degree in law , obtained his doctorate from Moscow University and qualified as a professor at Warsaw University . He worked as an assistant, research assistant , lecturer and professor at Vilnius University (teaching license for international law since 1981, for human rights since 1991 and for EU law since 2000).

He was Director General of the Department of European Law at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania, holder of the Jean Monnet Chair, President of the Lithuanian Association for Studies on the European Union; President of the parliamentary working group on constitutional reform in connection with the accession of Lithuania , member of the International Commission of Jurists (April 2003); Expert for the Council of Europe on issues relating to the compatibility of national legislation with the European Convention on Human Rights.

From May 12, 2004 to August 2013, he was a judge at the Court of First Instance of the European Communities .
