Vilhjálmur Bjarnason

Vilhjálmur Bjarnason (born April 20, 1952 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician ( Independence Party ).

Vilhjálmur's in business administration ( cand.oecon. The University of Iceland , 1977) and has an MBA from Rutgers University , New Jersey (1997). Among other things, he has worked for Icelandic banks and as a teacher at the Reykjavík Trade School. Since 1998 he has been a visiting lecturer in business administration and economics at the University of Iceland.

Since the Icelandic parliamentary elections on April 27, 2013 , Vilhjálmur was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing for the Southwestern constituency . He was a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs and Trade and the Committee on Foreign Affairs. In addition, Vilhjálmur Bjarnason was a member of the Icelandic delegation to the parliamentary committees of the EFTA and EEA countries as well as a member of the joint EU- Iceland parliamentary committee .

In 2015, Vilhjálmur Bjarnason was the only MP in the Althing who voted against legalizing blasphemy in Iceland.

In the parliamentary elections on October 28, 2017 , Vilhjálmur Bjarnason lost his seat in the Althing.
