Vilija Blinkevičiūtė
Vilija Blinkevičiūtė (* 3. March 1960 in Linkuva , Rajon Pakruojis , Lithuanian SSR ) is a Lithuanian lawyer and politician, former member of the Seimas as well as social and labor minister of Lithuania .
Life
In 1978 she graduated from the Linkuva Middle School with a gold medal, and in 1983 she graduated from Vilnius University with a law degree .
From 1983 to 1990 she was the auditor of the Lithuanian Ministry of Social Protection, Chief Inspector at the Pension Department of the Pension Office, from 1990 to 1994 Consultant in the Labor Relations Department of the Ministry of Social Protection of Lithuania, then senior legal consultant, from 1994 to 1996 Secretary of the Social Protection and Labor Ministry of Lithuania, from 1996 until 2000 Deputy Minister of Social Protection and Labor, from November 9, 2000 to December 9, 2008 Lithuanian Minister of Social Protection and Labor.
In 2004 she was a candidate for the President of Lithuania to represent the Naujoji Sąjunga . From 2000 to 2008 she was a member of the Seimas . Since 2009 she has been a member of the European Parliament of LSDP .
