The Demnitz winds through the Demnitztal in the Schlaubetal Nature Park . The nature reserve Upper Demnitztal has been located on 87.55 hectares since 1981 , a partially dammed and muddy river valley on the edge of the Schlaubetal. The name refers to the Old Slavic timẹ or timêno , which means swamp, mud or dung . In Russian there is тимение = swamp , in Czech tymenec = swamp spring . The name changed over time via Temnitz to Demnitz .

Emergence

The landscape was created in the Vistula Ice Age . This created the meltwater systems of the Schlaube , Dorche , Oelse and Demnitz.

course

The stream has its source in wet meadows east of Mixdorf and winds its way through the river valley on its short, roughly four-kilometer run. Shortly before it flows into the northeast bay of the Oelsener See in Dammendorf , it crosses under the federal highway 246 .

nature

The Ledo-Sphagnetum is home to spiders such as the Gerandete Jagdspider , Tapinocyboides pygmaeus and Taranucnus setosus . Bugs such as Gerris lateralis can also be found in the moors, formed from swamp porosity - peat moss . Stocks of water springs can also be found here.
