Villa Caspar-David-Friedrich-Strasse 3 (Dresden)
The Villa Caspar-David-Friedrich-Straße 3 is a listed former residential building in the Strehlen district of Dresden , which has been used as an office building since 2002.
History and description of the building
The building was erected from 1903 to 1904 according to plans by the architect Heino Otto , who was also in charge of construction management and execution. It is considered to be one of the few remaining Otto buildings in Dresden. During the GDR era, the villa was used by a consumer cooperative , which also set up a textile sales point in the building. The building fell into disrepair over time and was finally renovated in 2002.
The two-storey building has an "irregular ground plan and elevation" with an asymmetrically designed street front. The size and arrangement of the windows, which have various types of rounding, are also irregular. Although an Art Nouveau building , the villa hardly has any ornamental decorations typical of Art Nouveau . Inside, the large hall is striking. However, the garage integrated into the basement was particularly unique for the time it was built .
