Villa Fuchs in Heilbronn

The Villa Fuchs is a listed villa in Heilbronn at Jägerhausstraße 104. Built as an entrepreneur's villa in 1913, the villa was also used for cultural purposes from the 1960s.

description

The two-storey villa is an example of country house architecture and was created in 1913 by Adolf Braunwald for the businessman Rudolf Fuchs. The facade of the villa is symmetrically divided and features dominating bay windows, loggia and terrace. The hall is spacious and central, the entire interior is evidence of the high level of craftsmanship. Julius Fekete regards the villa as "a good example of country house architecture shortly before the end of the German Empire, characterized by the organic interplay of baroque and neoclassical forms."

history

In 1950 Rudolf Fuchs owned the villa and lived there on the ground floor. The factory director Hanns Hesse lived on the first floor and the assistant doctor Franz Nowak lived on the second floor. In the annex building 104/1, two apartments were also let to employees. In 1961, Hartwig Schmidt, a graduate engineer, lived in the villa alongside Fuchs.

In the building known as the Villa on the Hill , there was a sophisticated room theater in front of invited guests from 1962, with entertainment pieces mostly of Anglo-Saxon origin and modern problem plays being performed.

In November 2013 the villa, two outbuildings and the associated land were transferred to the "Seniors Foundation Fuchs" foundation, which is managed in trust by the Diakonisches Werk Heilbronn. The purpose of the foundation is senior-friendly living. Accordingly, there are plans for renovations and new buildings.

reception

In March 2017, the building served as the backdrop for the feature film “ Brecht's Threepenny Film ”. The screenwriter Joachim A. Lang is directing the film . The feature film is based on Bertolt Brecht's " Threepenny Opera ".

    1911–1916 Theodor Moosbrugger
Modest, yes comfortably, five residential buildings structure the northern half of Liebigstrasse in the south of Heilbronn. Their original purpose: Knorr employees' residences. Between 1911 and 1916 the architect Moosbrugger built two-and-a-half-story houses with high, hood-like hipped roofs. Its asymmetrical floor plan, the bay windows and roof windows as well as the slate-clad upper floors are examples of the so-called Heimatstil that the architect Hermann Muthesius made popular with his adaptation of English country house architecture in Germany after 1905 "

"[...] The renovation in 1954 added traditional forms borrowed from the country house architecture of the Heimatstyle (exposed timber roof houses, emphasized handcrafted entrance door [...] baroque window grilles, Art Nouveau-style interior fittings) [...]"
