Kunlun Energy ( Chinese 崑崙 能源 / 昆仑 能源 ), formerly CNPC (Hong Kong) Limited ( 中國 (香港) 石油 有限公司 / 中国 (香港) 石油 有限公司 ) is a Chinese company with headquarters in Bermuda . The head office is located in Hong Kong . The company is listed in the Hang Seng Energy Index, a sub-index of the Hang Seng China Index, on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange .
Kunlun Energy was founded in 1993 under the name CNPC (Hong Kong) Limited as a subsidiary of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in order to develop capital markets and increase the disposal of foreign exchange . The company develops and produces oil and gas reserves in the People's Republic of China, Kazakhstan , Oman , Peru , Thailand , Azerbaijan , Indonesia and Myanmar .
The approximately 400 employees achieved 2006 sales of 440 million US dollars and a profit of 470 million US dollars. Kunlun Energy's managing director is ZHAO, Yongqi.
In March 2010, the company was renamed Kunlun Energy Company Limited.
