China Life Insurance Company Limited ( China Life ) is a Chinese insurance company based in Beijing . With a turnover of 84.8 billion US dollars and a profit of 2.9 billion US dollars, according to Forbes Global 2000 it ranks 51st among the world's largest companies (as of fiscal year 2016) and is the fifth largest insurer worldwide. The company is listed in the Hang Seng Index and SSE 50 stock indices . In early 2017, it had a market capitalization of USD 98.1 billion.
China Life is the largest life insurer in China, but offers various types of insurance services. On December 18, 2003, the company went public. In 2007, the China Insurance Regulatory Commission approved the establishment of a joint venture with foreign companies based in Hong Kong . The share capital of the joint venture is HKD 60 million. 50% of the shares are held by China Life Insurance AMC, 26% by Franklin Templeton Investments , and 24% by China Life Insurance (Overseas) in order to offer insurance services outside of China.
