The company Bank of East Asia ( Chinese  東亞銀行 ), SEHK: 0023, abbreviated BEA is the largest independent bank in Hong Kong. The bank was founded in Hong Kong in 1918 . The company has a market capitalization of around 2.5 billion US dollars (2006) and is listed in the Hang Seng Index .

In 1995 the BEA acquired the United Chinese Bank and in 2000 the First Pacific Bank , both in Hong Kong, and in 2001 the Grand National Bank, which operates in Southern California. Chairman and CEO is Sir David Li Kwok-po .
