Villa Kissel

The Villa Kissel is a listed villa in Frankfurt-Westend at Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße 65.

In 1887, the wealthy Frankfurt merchant Norbert Kissel commissioned the architects Aage von Kauffmann and Ludwig Neher to build a villa on a large plot of land near Grüneburgpark . The large neo-renaissance villa was completed in 1889. The house has a symmetrical facade with an axial main portal between the side risers and the mezzanine floor. The original sgraffiti on the plastered facade have been destroyed.

Kissel's widow sold the house to the banker Otto Braunfels , senior head of the Jakob H. Stern bank. After several changes of ownership, the house stood empty from 1972 and was in poor condition. In 1975 the bank for brewing industry bought the villa and had it renovated for 4 million DM. The renovation was led by the Hamburg architect Cäsar Pinnau , who was responsible for many building projects for the Oetker Group .

The bank, which operated as Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft von 1899 from 1986, used the building as its headquarters. In addition, from 1987 she regularly organized public music evenings in the house. After the merger of Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft with Bankhaus Lampe , Bankhaus Lampe used the building.
