Obere Bergstrasse 56

description

The under monument protection standing villa rises north of Upper Mountain Road at the foot of Lower Lößnitzer vineyards. The steeply sloping property is intercepted by a high enclosure wall made of quarry stone with a lancet fence between sandstone pillars. There is a gate in the wall as an entrance, next to it a quarry stone dated 1914.

The two-storey residential building "with an irregular floor plan" stands on a high basement . The tiled truncated pyramid roof cantilevers well above. In front of the sloping roof, there are some dormers, also with gables.

In the four-axis street view on the left there is a two-axis side elevation with a high vented gable. In the right side view there is an identical risalit towards the rear of the building. The reserve in front of it facing the street is formed by an open veranda, which is solidly constructed with columns below, while it is made of wood above. In the left side view there is the entrance to the house in an arbor.

The plastered building is structured by cornices and corner pilasters, plus sandstone elements. The windows are by horizontal Verdachungen crowned.

history

In March and December 1896, the building contractor Carl Bär applied for the construction of a villa building; the design came from the builder Adolf Neumann . After the building permit was granted in January and April 1897, the use permit was granted in September 1897. In 1900, the master builder F. A. Bernhard Große built the outbuilding on Bodelschwinghstrasse, which is now separated from the original site as Bodelschwinghstrasse 12.

According to the address book from 1901, the merchant Otto Steche lived in the property as the owner , and a partner and a gardener are listed by name. Steche was buried in the closest cemetery in Radebeul-West .

In 1914 the steeply sloping property was given a new retaining wall facing the street.
