The Villa Reusch

The Villa Reusch is a former manufacturer's villa. It stands at Am Hammer 12 in the Hopesthal district of Rösrath in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis . The facade is rich in late classicist elements.

history

In 1773 the merchant Rudolf Philipp Boullé built a hammer mill in Volberg . In addition, in 1784 he built a house for residential purposes, the so-called Weiherhaus, because it was surrounded by a pond. In 1816 the Reusch family acquired the entire property and manufactured thin sheet metal from pig iron here . An economic boom followed for the company. The Reusch family then added an additional floor to the house in 1880 and changed the room layout and reorganization with late classicist and neo-baroque elements.

monument

The villa is entered under No. 59 in the list of architectural monuments in Rösrath . It was named Monument of the Month in October 2014.
