Villa Rustica (Bernex)
In the Villa Rustica of Bernex is the remains of a Roman estate in Bernex in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland .
After the remains of an estate were discovered in 1946, it was uncovered during rescue excavations from 1968 to 1972. The manor once consisted of a manor house and various farm buildings within a walled courtyard. The system was about 230 by 123 meters. There was a gate in the northeast wall. Three farm buildings stood along the north wall. Another farm building stood next to the south wall, but not directly on it. The actual manor house of the manor has not yet been excavated and is believed to be under the old village church of Bernex. Using coins and ceramics, the estate was managed from the beginning of the first century AD until the fifth century.
