Villa Rustica (Pully)
The Villa Rustica in Pully , also known as Villa du Prieuré , is a large Roman villa that was palatial in size.
In the Swiss village of Pully , remains of Roman buildings came to light over the centuries, which were identified as Villa Rustica during excavations in 1971 . The villa is only partially excavated. It was built in several phases and dates back to the end of the 1st century. It was initially a building with a portico at the rear. In an expansion phase, the villa received two large exedra-likeRooms that are built into the mountain and have a double wall, which was probably used to protect against the moisture in the slope. Extensive remains of wall paintings showing a chariot race came to light in one of the halls. Parts of the villa are now an open-air museum.
