Villa Welzigstein

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Villa Welzigstein is located at Jägerhofstraße 47 in the Niederlößnitz district of the Saxon city of Radebeul . The building with the fire register number 59, which is one of the typical examples of the master builders Ziller brothers in Swiss style , was built in 1877/1878 for the Dresden court tailor Eduard Schneider. The house was named, probably after 1900, based on the surrounding Welzigberge , a vineyard corridor of the Loessnitz . The country house and the outbuilding are now under monument protection .

description

In 1877 the court tailor, Eduard Schneider, applied to be allowed to convert his single-storey house in a vineyard due to its dilapidation and to build a new house right next to it. The Ziller brothers built the two-storey country house directly onto the renovated residential building that was converted into an auxiliary building.

The Swiss-style country house has a knee-length floor and a flat, far protruding gable roof with rafter gables . The top floor is boarded up in the gables and the knee, the eaves are supported by carved consoles and long carved tenons hang from the roof.

The first and second floors are plastered, the edges are emphasized by corner blocks. The windows are framed by sandstone walls to which folding shutters are attached. The entrance and wooden balconies, the parapets of which are decorated with board carvings, are located in the southern gable end.
