Villa Westendstrasse 21

The Villa Westendstraße 21 is a listed residential building in the Dresden district of Plauen . It is considered an "outstanding example of Art Nouveau in Dresden".

History and description of the building

The villa was built in 1904 by the Fichtner brothers - Ferdinand William and Conrad Albert O. Fichtner. Residents included a lawyer and other private individuals. Today the villa, which was renovated in 1992, is used by a civil engineering office and a medical practice.

The two-story building was built on an irregular floor plan. The four building views are asymmetrical and, in turn, are each structured differently. The building has wooden balconies of different sizes and asymmetrical windows, some of which are rounded and designed as triplet windows . The facades are aligned vertically, which is underlined by irregularly attached pilasters , for example on the round bay window of the southern facade. The house is accessed via the south side.

The villa moves a band of blue and white tiles at ground floor level , which were laid partly parallel and partly in a checkerboard pattern. In addition to geometric jewelry, floral patterns also adorn the interior of the house and in the hollow under the wavy eaves .
