Vinfast ( spelling sometimes VinFast ) is a Vietnamese car manufacturer. It belongs to the industrial group Vingroup , the largest private company in Vietnam. The seat is in the city of Hoi Phong .

The first two vehicle models were designed by the Pininfarina design studio . The vehicle technology is essentially based on a no longer produced model from the German car manufacturer BMW . The BMW X5 with the type code BMW F15, built from 2013 to 2018, is named .

The start of production was planned for the second half of 2019. To this end, a new manufacturing facility was built on the island of Cát Hải in the North Vietnamese province of Hải Phòng . The production systems for this were almost entirely imported from Germany.
