Vincas Bacevičius

Vincas Bacevičius (born May 16, 1875 in Ardzijauskai , † December 22, 1952 in Kaunas ) was a Lithuanian music teacher, pianist, conductor and composer.

Life

Bacevičius worked as a music teacher in Lodz and from 1925 in Kaunas, where he directed the university choir and the university orchestra. In addition to a ballet, piano pieces and choral songs, he composed four symphonies. His children also embarked on a musical career: Vytautas Bacevičius and Olegs Bacevičius became composers, Kęstutis Bacevičius became pianists, and his daughter Grażyna Bacewicz became known in Poland as a violinist and composer.
