Vincent Browne (* 1947 in Dublin ) is an Irish sculptor .

Life

Browne was born in Dublin in 1947. He studied at the National College of Art & Design and the Jan van Eyck Academy , Maastricht ( Limburg ) in the Netherlands . He represented Ireland at the 7th International Small Sculptures Show in Budapest , Hungary in 1987 .

Browne is a member of the Aosdána Association of Irish Artists .

Exhibitions, prizes

Brown won the Oireachtas Gold Medal for sculpture three times (1974, 1985, 1986), the Waterford Glass Prize (1992) and received several grants and other awards.

He won the Concrete Society of Ireland Sculpture Award in 1993 with the “Maritime Piece” in Wicklow .

He has had solo exhibitions at the "Castletymon Library" (1990) and the " Blanchardstown Library" (1991) , among others . In autumn 2002 he took part in the Sculpture in Context (group show) in the Botanical Gardens in Dublin.

Special works

Among other things, he created the popular sculpture Mr. Screen . This sculpture stands in front of the Screen Cinema at the junction of Hawkins Street and Townsend Street in Dublin.

On behalf of the public sector, he also created the Anti-War Memorial in Limerick (1987) and the bronze "Palm Tree seat" in Temple Bar , Dublin.
