Vincentas Vizgirda
Vincentas Vizgirda (born November 12, 1874 in Zygmantai , Vilkaviškis District , † January 15, 1966 in Marijampolė ) was a Lithuanian Catholic clergyman and theologian, rector of the Vilkaviškis Seminary .
Life
After high school in Mintauja , he studied at the Seinai seminary from 1895 and was ordained in 1900. He then studied in Rome and in Friebour, where he received two doctorates (in canon law and philosophy). He was one of the publishers of the Draugas newspaper. From 1918 he taught at the Seinai seminary and became Regens. Later he led the seminar in Zypliai , Gižai and Vilkaviškis . After the death of Bishop Antanas Karosas , Vizgirda was administrator of the Vilkaviškis diocese from 1947 to 1949 .
In 1949 he was arrested by the KGB and was imprisoned until 1954, after which he lived in Marijampolė .
