Vincenzo Silvano Casulli

Vincenzo Silvano Casulli (born August 25, 1944 in Putignano ; † July 24, 2018 ), also known under the name Silvano Casulli , was an Italian amateur astronomer .

Casulli was a dedicated observer and discoverer of asteroids . He was the first amateur astronomer who managed to get precise astrometric data from asteroids with a CCD camera . In the years 1993 to 2004 the number of his discoveries amounted to 86. The asteroid (7132) Casulli is named after him.

In 1985 he worked in a group of amateur astronomers who could use the Hubble telescope to observe and study comets and asteroids.

Casulli lived and worked near Rome, Italy.
