Vincino Beretta

Vincino Beretta (born April 3, 1920 in Lugano ; † April 2, 1972 ibid) was a Swiss journalist and film critic.

After an apprenticeship as a printer, Beretta initially worked as a typesetter for various local newspapers. As an autodidact, he switched to the profession of editor and film critic. As an employee of Radiotelevisione Svizzera (radio and television in Italian-speaking Switzerland), he was responsible for various cultural broadcasts as well as daily news for 30 years.

Beretta was one of the founders of the Locarno Film Festival . He was secretary from 1960 to 1966 and its director from 1960 to 1966. He was also the founder of the Association of Ticino Sports Journalists. From 1960 he was President and then General Secretary of the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique (FIPRESCI).
