Josip Posavec (born March 10, 1996 in Varaždin ) is a Croatian football goalkeeper who is currently under contract with the Croatian football club Hajduk Split .

Player career

Josip Posavec began his professional career in 2013 with the Croatian football club Inter Zaprešić . In the 2nd HNL , the second Croatian football league, he completed a total of 5 games. In the 2014/15 season he was second division champion with Inter and celebrated promotion to the 1st HNL , the first Croatian soccer league , with his soccer club . In the following season, Posavec prevailed and became a regular goalkeeper at Inter at the age of 19. His good performances did not go unnoticed, so that in the same season he moved to Italy on January 7, 2016 for a transfer fee of 500 thousand euros to US Palermo . He played his first game for Palermo and in Serie A in the league game against FC Bologna on February 28, 2016. This season there was only one game. In the following season he prevailed and became a regular goalkeeper at Palermo. With 29 played first division games and a rate of 78.79% held balls, he had the best rate of all goalkeepers in Serie A in the 2016/17 season . He even had better rates than Gianluigi Buffon , Samir Handanovič and Gianluigi Donnarumma . Despite his good performances, he was relegated to Serie B with Palermo . At the start of the season he lost his regular place to Alberto Pomini , whereupon Palermo loaned him to the Croatian top club Hajduk Split . After the forced relegation of Palermo to Serie D , Posavec was signed by Hajduk Split on June 9, 2019.

For the Croatian U17 and U19 national team , he completed one game each. He made his debut for the Croatian U21 national team under Nenad Gracan in the U21 European Championship qualifier against Estonia on September 7th, 2015. With Croatia he took part as a regular goalkeeper at the U21 European Championship 2019 in Italy and San Marino .
