Vinea (drink)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vinea is a Slovak trademark of carbonated grape juice.

Vinea is one of the most popular non-alcoholic drinks in Slovakia.

The grape juice, of which there is a white and a red variant, was produced by Vino Nitra , one of the largest Slovak wine producers. The drink was developed in 1973 by Miloš Ševčík, the director of Vino Nitra in Nitra . After the fall of the Iron Curtain , competition from abroad became very noticeable. In the meantime the market was regained. In 2000, Vino Nitra won a gold medal for the drink as the best domestic product. In addition to Vin Nitra, a second manufacturer, Malokarpatský vinársky podnik in Pezinok, produced the drink and also won awards for it.

In 2007, the Slovak manufacturer and bottler of the Czech soft drink Kofola bought the rights to the Vinea brand.
