Virchow is an impact crater on the easternmost edge of the front of the moon , in the northwest of the whale plain of the large crater Neper . Virchow is only slightly eroded. The crater floor is flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1979 after the German doctor and pathologist Rudolf Virchow .
