Virilist
In the constitutionalism of the 19th century in Germany and Austria-Hungary, a virilist ( Latin vir = man) was a person who, due to their office as bishop , judge or rector of a university, had an ex-officio seat in a legislative body.
This term was u. a. also used in Transylvania . In Austria they were appointed to the manor house by the emperor .
This designation still exists today, for example in the Austria Convention of the Austrian Parliament.
