The Klagenfurt Virtual School Museum was initiated by the Austrian Society for Historical Education and School History (ÖGHPS). According to the company, it was created due to a lack of suitable premises for a real school museum in Klagenfurt . The project was u. a. Realized with the financial support of the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture .

The visitors are also guided through the museum by teacher Lämpel, from Max and Moritz by Wilhelm Busch .
