Viscount Lisburne

Viscount Lisburne is a hereditary British title of nobility awarded twice in the Peerage of Ireland .

Award

The title was first awarded on January 29, 1685 for the Anglo-Irish military Sir Adam Loftus . Together with the Viscountcy he was given the subordinate title of Baron of Rathfarnam in the County of Dublin . Both titles lapsed when he fell at the Siege of Limerick on September 15, 1691 , leaving no male heirs.

In the second bestowal, the title was created on June 5, 1695 for Welsh House of Commons John Vaughan , along with the subordinate title of Baron Fethard , of Feathered in the County of Tipperary . His grandson, the 4th Viscount, was made Earl of Lisburne in 1776 . The Viscountcy has since been a minor title of the Earl.

The alleged title heir ( Heir Presumptive ) is the brother of the current title holder, Michael Vaughan (* 1948).
