Friedrich Karl von Langelair (born January 7, 1737 in Perleberg ; † February 8, 1802 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general and most recently Vice-Commander of Berlin.

Life

His parents were Lieutenant Colonel Christian Friedrich von Langelair († January 4, 1767) and his wife Dorothea Elisabeth, née von Lüderitz from the Segeltz family. His father was raised to the nobility on June 1, 1731 . He also had a sister, Charlotte Luise, who went to the aristocratic monastery in Zehdenick .

Military career

Langelair became a cadet in Berlin on January 20, 1750 and came on June 28, 1754 as a non-commissioned officer in the infantry regiment "von Anhalt-Dessau" . On November 16, 1756 he became an ensign . During the Seven Years' War Langelair fought in the battles near Lobositz , Prague Kolin and Kay . In the latter two battles he suffered wounds. Langelair also took part in the battles at Adelsbach and Leutmannsdorf, as well as in the siege of Prague. At that time he was on February 5, 1758 Second Lieutenant and on August 30, 1762 Premier Lieutenant in the infantry regiment "von Eulenburg" .

After the war Langelair was on June 11, 1771 staff captain and on October 15, 1774 captain and company commander . As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On August 24, 1784 he was promoted to major and on May 30, 1787 commander of the Fusilier Battalion No. 1, which received his name. In 1787 Langelair took part in the campaign in Holland and was awarded the order Pour le Mérite on October 1, 1787 for the battle near Amstelveen .

On October 19, 1789 he was then commander of the infantry regiment "von Pfuhl" . This was followed by a position as an assessor in the department of the Oberkriegskolleg from March 3, 1791, and there he rose to lieutenant colonel in early June 1791 . On December 4, 1792, during the mobilization, he was appointed Vice-Commander of Berlin. On February 22, 1793 he was made a colonel and then released from his command on January 18, 1796. On May 20, 1799 Langelair became major general with a patent from May 23, 1799 and in mid-November of that year he received an allowance of 500 thalers from the king for his many years of loyal service.

Langelair died unmarried on February 8, 1802 in Berlin.
