Viscount Southwell
Viscount Southwell , of Castle Mattress in the County of Limerick , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .
Award and subordinate titles
The title was bestowed on July 18, 1776, to Thomas Southwell, 3rd Baron Southwell . As early as 1766, he had inherited the subordinate titles of 3rd Baron Southwell , of Castle Mattress in the County of Limerick, and 4th Baronet , of Castle Mattress in the County of Limerick, from his father . The former was given to his grandfather in the Peerage of Ireland on September 4, 1717, the latter to his great-grandfather on August 4, 1662 in the Baronetage of Ireland.
Today's title holder has been his descendant Pyers Southwell as the 7th Viscount since 1960 .
