René Kalobius

René Kalobius (born December 23, 1959 in Düren ) is a German chef . In December 2016 it was awarded one star in the Guide Michelin and 16 points in Gault Millau.

Kalobius was born in Düren and has lived in Tuscany since 2017 on his 90 hectare Terre Di San Gorgone estate, in Donnini, a district of Reggello, since 2017 .

After his training and various positions in Germany, Kalobius moved abroad. He worked in hotels and restaurants in Tenerife , Indonesia , Namibia and Costa Rica . In addition, he invented his own cooking show on television. He also works as a food photographer . He is also active as a gastronomic consultant and author .

From 2015 to the beginning of 2018 Kalobius worked as kitchen director at the Parkhotel Surenburg in Hörstel - Riesenbeck . For this he left his country estate with gastronomy in Tuscany. But it still produces its high-quality olive oil, Olio Extra Vergine d´Oliva, in Tuscany. In June 2017, René Kalobius' olive oil was recognized as one of the best olive oils in the world at the big 2017 Olio Award from Feinschmecker magazine. It ranks number 11 among the world's best olive oils in the overall ranking and second in the ranking of Tuscan olive oils. René Kalobius is thus the world's best German olive oil producer.

Since 2016 he has been a member of the Chaine des Rôtisseur as Maitre Rôtisseur .

He has been married to Gilla Neufend-Kalobius for the second time since 2015, who comes from Düren but emigrated to Italy in 1981. He has two children from his first marriage.
