Joel Portella Amado

Joel Portella Amado (born October 2, 1954 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro .

Life

Joel Portella Amado was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro on October 12, 1982 .

Pope Francis appointed him auxiliary bishop in São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro and titular bishop of Carmeiano on December 7, 2016 . The Archbishop of Sao Sebastiao do Rio de Janeiro, Orani João Tempesta Cardinal OCist , donated it and the same time appointed Paulo Alves Romão on 28 January of the following year, the episcopal ordination . Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishop emeritus Assis Lopes and the archbishop of Taranto , Filippo Santoro .

Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life on October 6, 2018 .
