Viscount of Kingston
Viscount of Kingston was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Scotland . The title is named after Kingston , which is now a district of Glasgow .
Award and history of the title
The title was created on February 6, 1651 by King Charles II for Sir Alexander Seton , the second-born son of George Seton, 3rd Earl of Winton , who had distinguished himself as a royalist military in the English Civil War .
His younger son took part in the Jacobite revolt of 1715 and was ostracized by the British Parliament for high treason in 1716 ( Bill of Attainder ), which also deprived him of his title of nobility. With his childless death in 1726, the possibility of restoring the title became extinct.
