Vistec Semiconductor Systems

The Vistec Semiconductor Systems GmbH is a manufacturer of systems of production control for the semiconductor industry and is based in Weilburg in Limburg-Weilburg ( Hessen ).

Its products include macro defect detection systems, defect review and defect classification systems, systems for measuring the positional accuracy of structures on photo masks, as well as microscopes and OEM modules for electronics and semiconductor manufacturers and research institutes.

The company emerged from the semiconductor device division of Leica Microsystems AG, which was bought and renamed in 2005 by the private investor group Golden Gate Capital (San Francisco). In addition to the production facilities in Germany, Vistec has other headquarters in the USA, Japan, China, Singapore, Taiwan and Korea.

Vistec achieved second place in the Hessen Champions 2007 World Market Leader award , which was presented by the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transport and Regional Development and the Association of Hessian Entrepreneurs' Associations (VhU).

The Microelectronic Inspection Equipment (MIE) business unit was taken over by KLA-Tencor in the fourth quarter of 2008 . KLA Tencor is a US supplier of test equipment for the semiconductor and microelectronics industries.
