Vitalis stain

Vitalis Fleck (actually Flegk ; * in Borna ; † around 1477 ) was a German medic . He was the first professor of medicine at the University of Greifswald .

Life

Vitalis Fleck came from an academic family. In 1439 he was enrolled at the University of Leipzig . There he was awarded a Bachelor of Artium in 1441 , a Magister Artium in 1445 and a Bachelor of Artium in 1452 . PhD . In 1450 he was Vice Chancellor of the Leipzig University.

In 1456 he received his doctorate in medicine on the day the University of Greifswald was founded. He took over the medical chair and became a member of the concilium universitatis . In 1461 he was vice rector , in 1460, 1464 and 1471 rector of the university. At the St. Nikolai Cathedral he had a canonical preparation .
