Vivat! Homage to the Weimar court

Under the title Vivat! Tribute writings at the Weimarer Hof an exhibition was shown from February 6, 2010 to March 6, 2011 in the Renaissance hall of the Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar , which presented particularly outstanding pieces from the collection of tribute writings in the Duchess Anna Amalia Library.

Special exhibits

The sixty exhibits included a homage with a congratulatory aria on the birthday of Wilhelm Ernst , Duke of Saxony-Weimar, which Johann Sebastian Bach's setting as an autograph (“Alles mit Gott und nothing ohn 'him”, BWV 1127). A particularly splendid exhibit was an homage to Ernst-August II. Von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach on his birthday on June 2, 1750. The text by the Gotha Fourier Heinrich Carl Koenig was presented in it as a richly illustrated manuscript on parchment. In addition, printed tributes by Johann Wolfgang Goethe , Friedrich Schiller and Christoph Martin Wieland were shown.

Exhibition catalog

An extensive, illustrated exhibition catalog was published for the exhibition (see literature). In addition to a foreword and an introductory essay, it contains several scientific articles, numerous illustrated catalog descriptions, a bibliography and a register of persons.
